Cable Packages

After getting jerked around one too many times by Comcast, I’m going to switch to something cooler. I’ve been getting by on expanded basic for too long. I do currently use Comcast for cable internet and might keep that, but my main question here is, what satellite service is best for the NFL? [...]

2007 NFL Week 8 Beatpaths Rankings

Only two upsets this week, although one of them affects the graph considerably. Jacksonville was ranked only three spots behind Tampa Bay, but by busting Tampa Bay’s beatpath to them, they untie the NFC South from the AFC South, which flattens the graph considerably.

And, the rankings:

2007 MLB Final Rankings

After Round 209 – the conclusion of the Red Sox sweeping the Rockies, here is the final beatpath graph of the 2007 Major League Baseball Season.

At the end of the regular season, the Beatpaths graph picked either the Red Sox or the Yankees to beat the Rockies in the World Series. The only thing [...]

2007 Week 8 Picks

In my ongoing campaign to eventually someday be included on King Kaufman’s Panel O’ Experts and compete for his grand prize of dinner at his house, even though I’ll never win, I am posting NFL picks. This is for Week 8.
Please note that if you actually use pure beatpath picks for your own picks, [...]

2007 MLB Playoffs, Round 205

The Championship Series are over, and the World Series is about to start. Here’s the beatpath graph for the season.

The rankings are still the same they’ve been since Round 196, and the Red Sox are still favored to win over the Rockies, although it’s close.

2007 NFL Week 7 Beatpaths Rankings

Only three upsets this week – two lead to new beatpath segments, and one leads to a CHI=>PHI=>DET=>CHI beatloop. Detroit beating Tampa Bay has the biggest effect on the graph and rankings, and it made IND@JAC less of a big game than it appeared. Buffalo beating Baltimore was not an upset.

And, the rankings:

2007 NFL Week 7 Quick Look

Not a lot of upsets this week, but the upsets so far are big. The upset that is most traumatic to the graph is Detroit over Tampa Bay – it serves to make the entire AFC South look a little more ordinary. I haven’t tested the possible outcomes of the MNF game, but [...]

2007 NFL Week 6: What If? Point Differentials

I realize this kind of goes against the entire point of this site – focusing on wins and losses and no other stats whatsoever – but I also like experimenting with the system, and the latest experiment is to figure in point differentials. Partly to relieve the angst of all the Pat-heads here that [...]

2007 NFL Week 6 Beatpaths Rankings

A couple of nice upsets this week, which leads to a couple of new beatloops. But the graph changes aren’t too extreme. The NFC East slips, the NFC South rises, and a lot of other things stay the same. Plus: NE@DAL wasn’t actually the biggest game last week. And: there’s a [...]
