Beatpaths picks were 2-0 for the conference round. I actually missed the Giants game but it seemed like a doozy.
Here is the new beatpath graph. The main difference is that the Giants reclaim their beatwin over Chicago.

And here are the rankings. The only change is that Jacksonville looks better due to tiebreakers. The Giants actually lose a spot from being leapfrogged, but they were already ranked ahead of Green Bay.

(Beat SD) This is great. What it comes down to is that New England has a chance to be the (reasonably) undisputed best NFL football team ever, or, the biggest chokers ever on a sports stage. What fun. |

(Lost to NE)I was really struck that Tomlinson kept his Darth Vader helmet on the entire game while not playing. Man he had to have felt like crap. |

(Beat GB)In a way having a Manning against Brady in the Super Bowl is a refreshing change from it being in the conference championship. I wonder if Peyton is giving Eli tips in playing Brady. |

[...] ThunderThumbs wrote a fantastic post today on “2007 NFL Conference Round Beatpaths Rankings”Here’s ONLY a quick extract(Beat SD) This is great. [...] Some anonymous poster wrote a fantastic comment today. In it he only copied and pasted a portion of the article without bringing anything to the table himself. What fun … [...] Hey, at least he didn’t say, “If the Giants win they have a chance of possibly going to the Super Bowl.” Emmit Smith got PAID to do that.
At any rate, the basis for his statement will be presented in an article I have written soon, if TT is kind enough to post it.
Going into the Super Bowl:
Standard Path Ratings:
(1) NE – 9.16
(6) NYG – 2.48
Weighted Path Ratings:
(1) NE – 9.13
(12) NYG – 1.59
Iterative (Doktarr) Path Ratings:
(1) NE – 8.43
(7) NYG – 1.81
“I wonder if Peyton is giving Eli tips in playing Brady.”
You realize that Eli and Tom won’t actually be facing each other on the field, right?
Emmit Smith actually said that? Good gravy.
When I lived in Denver, it was clear that sportscaster Les Shapiro really didn’t like Madeline something-or-other, who blazed through Denver before moving on to bigger and better things. Once at the end of a sportscast, she said, “So, what will Denver need to beat the Patriots this weekend?” Les responded, “Madeline, Denver will need to score MORE POINTS than New England.” He actually looked annoyed. That was fun to watch.
I’ve got your article, thanks! I’ll post it today or over the weekend.
