2008 NFL Week 3 Picks

Beatpaths was 11-4 last week, for a total record of 19-12. My “personal picks” were 9-6 last week, for a total record of 18-13. As always, the CAPS are the official pick, although I will occasionally make a personal pick the other way (I’m 1-2 at them so far.)

CAROLINA at Minnesota: And there’s already a beatpath for a game, in week 3. Carolina has a beatpath to Minnesota through Chicago and Indianapolis, so they are favored. I’ll personally pick Minnesota just because I want to see the season’s first beatloop. And because Frerotte is an upgrade from Jackson.

KANSAS CITY at Atlanta: Kansas City is favored over Atlanta, even though Atlanta has a beatwin, because Kansas City has a superior history compared to Atlanta.

Oakland at BUFFALO: Buffalo is significantly favored by the rankings, although they don’t yet have any beatpath relation.

Tampa Bay at CHICAGO: Chicago is favored. If they win, Carolina would have a beatpath to Tampa Bay.

Houston at TENNESSEE: Tennessee is favored in a game that will close up the graph quite a bit.

Cincinnati at NY GIANTS: The Giants are significantly favored.

Miami at NEW ENGLAND: #31 at #1 this week. Another beatpath through the Jets, but I don’t see a beatloop this time around.

Arizona at WASHINGTON: Washington is significantly favored despite Arizona being 2-0, just because Arizona’s competition has been so poorly ranked so far.

New Orleans at DENVER: Denver has an opportunity to have some long beatpaths underneath them with a win.

St Louis at SEATTLE: I wish I could pick against both of these teams. Although I’m hopeful that Colbert works out in Seattle.

Detroit at SAN FRANCISCO: Detroit finally crashes near the bottom of the rankings, and San Francisco is favored.

CLEVELAND at Baltimore: Baltimore was pretty lowly ranked at the end of last season. I’m tempted to personally pick Baltimore, but then I’m seeing that Cleveland has had really tough opponents the first two weeks, so maybe they’re not as bad as they seem. (Then again, I could say the same for St. Louis.)

Pittsburgh at PHILADELPHIA: A very close pick. 2nd place for game of the week. This will tighten up the rankings picture.

Jacksonville at INDIANAPOLIS: Close pick, but because they are bunched together in the middle of the rankings. Weird to see them there.

DALLAS at Green Bay: Game of the week. Dallas is favored due to being more highly ranked last year. I’ll personally pick Green Bay just because of home field advantage.

NY Jets at SAN DIEGO: San Diego has a chance to get well, assuming Favre doesn’t kill them in the final minute.

And Ronnie Brown delivers us our first beatloop of the season.

  2. ThunderThumbs says:

    Damn!! #31 beats #1! That’s awesome!

  3. doktarr says:

It’s even better when you have him on your fantasy team, and when half your opponents in your eliminator pool picked the Pats. That was a sweet win.

You should check out the highlights on NFL.com if you haven’t seen them. They kept running direct-snap plays to Ronnie Brown, and the Pats defense had no idea what was coming.

WOW, those nfl.com miami highlights are unreal. You all should try and check them out while they’re still the Miami announcers, before it’s replaced by the nfl.com doofuses. I haven’t heard announcers have that good of a time for a long time.

Watching the game live was plenty enough for me. :P
